Studie si klade za cíl podrobně vylíčit sociálně-komunikační roli pohřebního kázání nad významným jihomoravským šlechticem Zachariášem z Hradce (v letech 1550–1589 pánem na Telči a Polné). V první části článku jsou vylíčeny okolnosti pohřbu tohoto velmože (1589) a následně je přiblížen obecný žánrový kontext pohřebních řečí, které v 16. století začaly hojně vycházet tiskem coby komemorativní a didaktická literatura. Kázání nad Zachariášem z Hradce se řadí k této dobově stereotypní oslavné literatuře. Článek je strukturován podle ustálených rétorických postupů pohřebního řečnictví a podle jednotlivých topoi, která kazatel přizpůsobil životní realitě zesnulého velmože. Studie se snaží poukázat na neobyčejný potenciál pohřebního kázání jako pramene, který sice neobsahuje příliš spolehlivé životopisné informace, ovšem umožňuje nahlédnout do mechanismů posmrtné mediální oslavy.

The paper aims to describe the social and communicational aspect of the funeral sermon delivered over the body of South-Moravian nobleman Zacharias of Hradec (between 1550 and 1589 lord of Telč and Polná). The first part of the text depicts a circumstances of this magnate's funeral (taking place in 1589) and is followed by an introduction to the general context of the literary form of funeral sermons. This form is known to have been published in print as commemorative and didactic literature during the 16th century. The sermon pronounced over the body of Zacharias of Hradec by preacher Sigismund Domináček of Písnice is an example of this contemporarily-stereotypical panegyric literature. The paper is structured by the distinctive steadfast rhetorical practices of funeral oratory as well as by the distinctive topoi which were adjusted by the preacher to fit a reality and actual environment of the deceased magnate’s life. This source, albeit short of credible biographical information, can allow us a glimpse into the structures of posthumous propaganda.
