Der Beitrag bemüht sich den Stand der Forschung über die älteste habsburgische Kunstkammer Ferdinands I. beziehungsweise seines Sohns Maximilians II. zusammenzufassen, die publizierten Quellen und deren Interpretation zu rekapitulieren und zugleich die belegten Fakten zu betonen und zugleich eine Reihe von offenen Fragen vorzulegen.

The study maps the state of the art of the knowledge of the earliest Habsburg Kunstkammer of Ferdinand I in Vienna and of his son, Maximillian II. Based on a recapitulation of the data from the literature, the published sources and their interpretations, at the same time submits a summary of a few proved facts and outlines a number of open questions.
