Edice představuje soubor dvanácti ego-dokumentů, které se vztahují k domácí protirakouské rezistenci v letech 1914–1918. Vybrané texty se liší dobou a okolnostmi svého vzniku, rozsahem i zvolenou formou, spojuje je však snaha o vyzdvižení aktivit Maffie jako ústřední odbojové organizace za první světové války. Maffie měla v tomto ohledu představovat symbol domácí revoluční akce, která v říjnu 1918 vyvrcholila vznikem samostatného československého státu. Předkládané dokumenty přinášejí některé detaily z prostředí protirakousky orientovaných kruhů, včetně způsobů konspirační činnosti a systému vzájemné komunikace. Podstatně cennější je však ta rovina textů, která odhaluje rozličné formy prezentace domácího protirakouského odboje, rozdíly v hodnocení jeho odkazu i zvolenou argumentaci jednotlivých autorů.

The edition is a collection of twelve egodocuments pertaining to the Czech domestic anti-Austrian resistance between 1914 and 1918. The selected texts differ in regard to the period and circumstances of their writing, their length and form, but they all try to emphasise the activity of the Maffie (Mafia) as the central resistance organisation during the First World War. Maffie was supposed to be the symbol of domestic revolutionary action, which in October 1918 brought about the formation of the independent Czechoslovak state. The documents presented in the book give us an insight into the anti-Austrian circles, including their secret work and their system of communication. But what is much more valuable are the levels of the texts which reveal the various forms of presenting the domestic resistance, differences in evaluating its heritage, and the argumentation chosen by individual authors.
