Kapitola pojednává o okolnostech vzniku největší javánské a indonéské říše Majapahit na konci 13. století, jejím největším teritoriálním a mocenském rozmachu ve druhé polovině 14. století za vlády krále Hayama Wuruka, jejím oslabení a fragmentaci v důsledku dynastických sporů během století patnáctého i konečně jeho úplného rozpadu ve čtvrtině 16. století pod tlakem nových muslimských království. Text se dále věnuje socio-ekonomické geografii království a náboženským konceptům a politickým rituálům, které legitimizovaly vladařskou moc javánské dynastie, jakož i administrativnímu uspořádání prvního javánského impéria.

The chapter describes the circumstances of the rise of the greatest Javanese and Indonesian empire of Majapahit at the end of the 13th century, its territorial expansion in the latter half of the 14th century and its subsequent decline, fragmentation and complete in the 15th and 15th centuries as a result of dynastic conflict and the rise of new Muslim states in North Central Java. The text also deals with the socio-economic geography as well as the administrative arrangement of the kingdom. However, the primary focus of the text is complex religious and cosmological concepts and sophisticated political rituals which legitimized the rulers´ authority of the Javanese dynasty.
