Uvedení křesťanského náboženství do Číny během dynastie Tang je jedním z nejdůležitějších produktů kontaktů mezi Evropou a východní Asií po Hedvábné cestě. Nestoriánství bylo přítomno v Číně za dynastií Tang a Yuan. Autor uvádí historii příchodu nestoriánského křesťanství (od 781 známého jako jingjiao 景教, “Náboženství světla”) z Persie do Číny po roce 635. Hlavní součástí studie je přepis a překlád syrsko-čínského textu na stéle v Xi'anu z roku 781. V druhé části studie autor stručně popisuje podobně laděnou jezuitskou stélu z roku 1644.

The introduction of Christian religion (Nestorianism) to China during the Tang dynasty is one of the most important products of the contacts between Europe and East Asia along the Silk Roads. Nestorianism was present in China (or, more exactly, in the territory of modern China) during two separate periods: the Tang and the Yuan dynasties. The first presence of Christianity in China is attested by the existence of a Nestorian community in the seventh century. The author introduces the history of the arrival of Nestorian Christianity from Persia to China after AD 635 (from 781 known as jingjiao 景教, “Luminous Religion” or “Religion of the Light”). The main part of the article is the transcription and translation of the Syriac-Chinese text on the Xi’an stele of 781. In the second part of his study, the author gives briefly a description of a similarly tuned Jesuit stele of 1644.
