Karel IV. patřil k nejvýznamnějším osobnostem středověké Evropy. Stěžejním záměrem výstavy je prostřednictvím několika vybraných témat představit Karla IV. a jeho dobu ve výzkumných programech Akademie věd a důstojným způsobem tak připomenout 700. výročí jeho narození. Je zřejmé, že vzhledem k dlouhé a bohaté historii Akademie jde o výběr z široké palety výzkumných projektů. Výstava si neklade za cíl prezentovat hotové výsledky, naopak usiluje o přiblížení stále živého procesu bádání.

Charles IV. was one of the most significant figures of Medieval Europe. The key goal of the present exhibition is to present Charles IV. and his age through a few selected topics from among the research projects at the Academy, and thus celebrate the 700th anniversary of his birth. It is clear that given the long and rich history of the Academy, this is only a narrow selection of research projects. Also, the exhibit does not aim to present the finished results of research, but rather strives to show the lively process of research as it goes on.
