Jako výchozí text pro edici písňových textů byl zvolen ve všech případech první tisk partitur Dvořákových písní. Ty byly rovnány s autografy písní a dále také s původními básnickými texty, které byly podkladem pro Dvořákovo zhudebnění.
The first prints of the scores of Dvořák's songs were chosen as the primary source for all the vocal texts in this edition. The prints were compared with the autographs of the songs and also with the original poetic texts.
