Der Streit um den päpstlichen Kreuzablass von 1412 gilt als einer der entscheidenden Momente in der Lebensgeschichte des Magisters Johannes Hus. Im diesem Beitrag werden einige bisher unberücksichtigte Quellen vorgestellt und untersucht. Anhand von diesen wird eine Gesamtbewertung der Ablassaffäre unternommen. Es stellt sich heraus, dass die Proteste kaum als unmittelbare Reaktion auf die Kreuzpredigt zustande gekommen sind, sondern waren das Ergebnis einer längeren Überzeugungskampagne seitens der reformgesinnten wyclifistischen Prediger und Magister.

The controversy over the papal crusading indulgence of 1412 was one of the crucial moments in the life of Master John Hus. It this study, some hitherto neglected sources are analysed. Based on them, a general evaluation of the indulgence scandal is proposed. It comes to light that the protests were hardly a spontaneous reaction to the preaching of the Cross, but rather a result of longer persuasive campaign led by the reform-minded Wycliffite preachers and masters.
