Konference se zaměřila nejenom na vývoj fenoménu vědeckých setkávání od počátku dvacátého století, ale i na stávající situaci a výhledy do budoucna. Byly zde postiženy jak obecné rysy spojené s problematikou konání mezinárodních vědeckých konferencí, tak specifika těchto setkávání daná českým, resp. středoevropským prostorem.

The conference focused not only on the development of the phenomenon of scientific gatherings since the beginning of the 20th century, but also on the current situation and future prospects. There were taken account of the general characteristics associated with the issue of international scientific conferences as well as the specifics of such meetings determined by the Czech or Central European region.
