During crystallization of L-Glutamic acid (LGLU) two polymorphs are formed: alpha (metastable) and beta (stable) phase. We have extended standard nucleation model to include formation of both phases from supersaturated solution. Kinetic equations describing this process were solved numerically to determine the basic characteristics of nucleation process: time dependent supersaturation, the size distribution of nuclei and nucleation rate for α and β phase. Our model reflects phase transition behaviour known from experimental data.
