Studie vychází z německého literárně- a kulturněvědného pojmu „fantastická literatura“. Na příkladu kulturně-sémiotického přístupu Renate Lachmannové a hermeneuticko-filozofického přístupu badatelů berlínského Centra pro výzkum kultury a literatury (fantastická literatura jako „Gedankenexperiment) autorka ukazuje dva možné přístupy k fantastickým textům. Dále se zabývá studií Konrada Paula Liessmanna o literárním zpracování cest časem. Souhlasí s jeho závěrem, že velká část románů o putování časem má kořeny v sociálních teoriích své doby a že většinou modeluje „svět zítřka“ „očima dneška“. Situaci v anglojazyčném prostředí srovnává se ruskými fantastickými romány 21. století, které reflektují současný stav ruské společnosti pohybující se mezi politizací privátního i veřejného života a zároveň mezi tabuizací (arkanizací) tohoto politického prvku.

The study is based on the German concept of “fantastic literature” as on a concept of literary and cultural science. Taking as an example the cultural semiotic attitude of Renate Lachmann and the hermeneutic philosophical attitude of the researchers of the Berlin Center for Literary and Cultural Research (fantastic literature as the “thougt experiment”), the author presents two possible attitudes to fantastic texts. She is further concerned with the study of Konrad Paul Liessmann on literary adaptation of journeys through time. She agrees with his conclusion that a great part of the novels about wandering through time are rooted in social theories of the age, and that they mostly model the “world of tomorrow” by “today’s eyes”. She compares the situation in the English-speaking environment with the Russian fantastic novels of the 21st century, which reflect the contemporary state of Russian society oscillating between a politicisation of both private and public life and simultaneously between a tabooisation (arcanisation) of this political element.
