Kniha časově navazuje na analytické a ediční zpracování tématu vývoje vztahu T. G. Masaryka s Rusy a Ukrajinci, v tomto svazku pro období 1918-1937. V ediční části prezentujeme celkem 1046 dokumentů korespondence. Z tohoto počtu celkem 502 dokumentů přinášíme v plném textovém znění, zbylých 544 korespondenčních jednotek zaznamenáváme v anotacích. Jedná se v naprosté většině o korespondenci exulantů prchajících z území někdejšího carského Ruska, nyní, po roce 1917, rozptýlených po celé Evropě a světě, kteří se z těch či oněch pohnutek a příčin obraceli na československého prezidenta. Soubor dokumentů tak sám o sobě přináší svébytné svědectví o osudu masy běženců i jednotlivců, o způsobu vnímání ztracené a znovu vytvářené identity lidí, kteří se ocitli mimo svoji vlast.

This book is a continuation of the analytical and documental treatment of the development of relations between T. G. Masaryk and the Russians and Ukrainians, in this volume focusing on the 1918–1937 period. In the document section there is a total of 1046 correspondence documents. Out of these, 502 documents are presented in their full text versions, while the remaining 544 correspondence items are recorded in annotations. The bulk comprises correspondence from emigrants fleeing the territory of former Tsarist Russia, who by 1917 were scattered all over Europe and the world, and who for different reason had turned to the Czechoslovak President. This collection of documents in itself presents a unique testimony of the fate of the masses of refugees as well as the fortunes of individuals, and of the ways the lost and regained identities of people who found themselves outside their homeland were perceived. Thanks to these documents the analytical sections in these books are able to provide a more general assessment.
