Publikace představuje stručný úvod do pozoruhodného světa planktonu našich nádrží. Ve stručnosti jsou představeny jednotlivé články pelagických potravních řetězců a jsou diskutována některá vybraná témata nádržové limnologie, např. vytváření podélných gradiantů v nádržích nebo vliv probíhající změny klimatu na fytoplankton. Hlavní důraz byl kladen na fotografickou část publikace. Čtenář tak může obdivovat pestrou paletu tvarů a barev planktonních organismů, které lze odhalit pohledem do mikroskopu. Publikace je doplněna leteckými záběry, které umožňují na vlastní oči spatřit, jak vypadají vodní květy sinic a vybrané lokality z ptačí perspektivy.

The publication provides a brief introduction to the amazing world of reservoir plankton. Key components of aquatic food webs are described and some important aspects of reservoir limnology, e.g. longitudinal gradients in reservoirs, the ongoing climate change and its impact on phytoplankon are discussed. The main emphasis was placed on photographic part of the brochure. Reader can enjoy myriads of beautiful shapes and colors of both phyto- and zooplankton revealed under the microscope. On the other hand, extraordinary aerial view offers unique opportunity to see how phytoplankton blooms and freshwater reservoirs or fishponds look form bird’s perspective.
