In polymer processing, branched polymeric materials exhibiting polydispersity are often used. Therefore, it is necessary to apply multi-mode rheological models respecting different relaxation times and viscosities characterizing diverse fractions in morphological arrangement of the studied materials. The single-mode Vinogradov-Pokrovskii model is generalised for the case of a multi-mode approach. The parameters participating in the determination of an internal friction are expressed with the help of the first invariant of the anisotropy tensor. The multi-mode version of the Vinogradov-Pokrovskii model enables a description of relatively slow flows of both linear and branched polymeric materials using a common theoretical approach. The generalised model was used for a description of behaviour of two branched low density polyethylenes and the comparison with the experimental data exhibits a good agreement.
