The conference was organized as a mid-term conference of the Committee on Women and Gender in the History of Science of the Division of History of Science and Technology of the International Union for History and Philosophy of Science. The aim of the Committee is to promote international communication and research among scholars working on women and gender studies in the history of science, technology and medicine. The aim of the onference, held under the auspices of the Rector of Charles University, Professor Tomáš Zima, was to highlight women’s paths to equal opportunities in education and research in different cultural contexts, from the second half of the nineteenth century to the present.
The program, which featured speakers from four continents, offered panel debates and presentations on a whole range of topics: women scientists in managerial positions, gender inequalities across Europe, gender differences in professional careers in research etc..
