    The Myrica rubra leaves oil was extracted by steam distillation. Based on the single factor experiment, by adopting the method of response surface analysis with three factors and three levels with Minitab 16.0 data analysis software, gas chromatography mass spectrum(GC/MS) was employed to analyze the major component of essential oils. According the above results, the optimal technical condition was as follows: the temperature of 170 °C, material-water mass ratio of 1:7, distillation time of 7 h. Under the condition, the Myrica rubra leaves essential oil extraction yield is 0.129%. The analysis of GC/MS showed that 20 kinds chemical composition of essential oils was identified, which was 96.25% of GC total peak area. The humulene, caryophyllene oxide, ledene oxide-(II) and γ-himachalene accounted for 67% and trace amounts of esters, alcohols, ketones and alkanes other substances was found.
