Polyelectrolyte hollow capsules are promising material that can be used for example as a drug delivery system in medical applications and release applications. For these purposes, the permeation rate of molecular components between the interior and the exterior is the most crucial parameter, and its dependence on the wall material and chemical conditions is essential for any desired function. The permeation rates for various hollow colloids were analysed by employing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) diffusion experiments. We found that the permeation is significantly correlated with structure of the capsules; since the dimensions are rather small, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed for detailed structure characterization.
