In the last two decades academic work has been subject to manifold pressures of both technological-temporal and political-economic character. In order to be successful, get/keep their job or get a promotion academics now need to adopt 'performance discipline', anticipatory techniques and negotiate ubiquitous digitally-mediated metrics. The entry surveys the existing literature on the changing temporalities of academic work and traces major (often conflicting) argumentative threads, insights and critiques that have emerged in this body of scholarship.
