Whistler-mode chorus emissions are usually generated close to the geomagnetic equator and consist of discrete individual wave packets. They exhibit different types of spectral shapes, as rising tones, falling tones, hooks etc. This study is based on analysis ofa few tens of events with easily identifiable rising or falling tones. We have detected several tens of thousands of individual wave packets in measurements of the WBD instrument on four Cluster spacecraft. The position of chorus source region for all processed events was calculated from measurements of the STAFF-SA instrument. Our study focuses on evolution of the amplitude of different spectral shapes. We observe different amplification of wave amplitude for different spectral shapes during their propagation from the source region. The increase of amplitude with increasing frequency sweep rateis found for all analyzed types of spectral shapes. This increase of amplitude for rising tones was steeper than for falling tones. We also observe a steeper increase of amplitude for frequencies below one half of the electron cyclotron frequency than above it.
