Granular mixing is the process widespread in industry, to ensure homogenisation of mixture properties. Despite its frequent use, the role of operational parameters especially in dynamics of particle motion inside the device remains unexplained. The granular system, which we deal with, is a vertical cylindrical mixer filled with approximately 42 thousand glass spherical particles. For modelling of interactions and movement of individual particles we use the open-source software LIGGGHTS based on discrete element method (DEM). The aim of this work is to study effects of different blade rake of two opposed flat bladed stirrer on the formation and evolution of granular flow patterns. Dynamics of the system was classified by use of three global particles transport characteristics describing the mixing process in tangential, axial and radial direction. These characteristics help to define different dynamic regimes in dependence on blade tip speed. Changing of blade rake, leads to a shift of these regimes toward different blade tip speeds. Understanding of this behaviour can be useful for optimizing the operation of similar devices.
