The study analyses the process of political and cultural identity building of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia during the first post-socialist decade after 1989. It shows different streams within the party and their ways of reacting to the external political anticommunism that characterized the mainstream Czech political spectrum in this period and that, simultaneously, limited the communist internal efforts to “come to terms” with their own totalitarian/authoritarian past.
