Publikace poprvé v ucelenosti a v rámci dobových a historických souvislostí zpracovává grafickou tvorbu malíře a grafika Bohumila Kubišty (1884 – 1918), jedné z nejvýznamnějších osobností českého moderního umění počátku 20. století. Vývoj umělcovy grafiky, kterou se příležitostně zabýval v rozmezí let 1904–1918 a v níž zpočátku dominovala technika leptu – v období války pak dřevoryt, lino a litografie –, autorka sleduje v provázanosti s jeho malířskou tvorbou a teoretickou činností. Kniha přináší řadu nových poznatků v Kubištově životě a díle a upřesňuje vročení některých děl; jejím obohacením je zveřejnění dvou téměř neznámých grafických prací, několika zkušebních tisků a přípravných kreseb a řady barevných variant pořízených z jedné desky. Podtržen je tím záměr přiblížit čtenáři proces umělcovy grafické práce a obnažit mu jedinečný svět jeho grafického umění. Kniha v grafické úpravě Zdeňka Zieglera poskytuje v tomto ohledu jedinečné možnosti; je postavena na detailech, které čtenáře doslova vtahují do dramatu děl a umožňují prožít jejich specifický expresivní náboj. Knihu v rozsahu 216 stran vydala ve spolupráci s Ústavem dějin umění AVČR v.v.i. Galerie Zdeněk Sklenář. Provází ji 76 barevných snímků, kompletní obrazový katalog umělcova grafického díla, obsáhlá bibilografie a výběr z výstav prezentujících umělcovu tvorbu.

This book offers a first and comprehensive treatment of the graphical works of the painter and graphical artist Bohumil Kubišta (1884–1918), one of the most prominent figures of Czech modern art from the early 20th century. Kubišta´s graphical production was irregular between 1904 and 1918; it consisted mostly of etchings at first but later included several woodcuts, two linocuts, and one litograph. This work is interpreted in the historical and intellectual context of the times, and the evolution of his graphical art is related to his paintings and theoretical work. The book reports new findings on Kubišta’s life and work. Several of his works are dated for the first time, and rare works are included, including two nearly unknown prints, a few trial prints, various preparatory drawings, and several color variants printed from the same plate. Masterly designed by Zdenek Ziegler, the book sheds light on Kubišta´s artistic process and introduces the reader to the original world of the artist´s graphical art; it includes a wealth of detail that amplify the expressive charge that is characteristic of Kubišta´s artwork. Published by the Zdenek Sklenar Gallery in collaboration with the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the book is 216-page long. It includes 76 colored illustrations, a complete catalogue of the artist´s graphical works, an extensive bibliography, and a list of exhibitions devoted to Kubišta´s work.
