    The paper demonstrates a simple and reliable method to determine the unsteady thermal transfer phenomenon on elements of porous materials using a pre-cooled circular cylinder in the cross-flow. Based upon the wind-tunnel testing in the smooth air with the constant temperature, thermal processes are measured using embedded thermal probes and multi-point surface radiometry. It forms a basis for an estimation of the temporal evolution of the temperature distributions that result in the determination of the total heat energy transferred to the cylinder. The overall heat transfer coefficient is evaluated at different temporal stages of the testing while respecting material imperfections of the considered element.
