The paper presents an aeroacoustic model of the sound generation in human vocal tract. The numerical model is built in a hybrid approach, where the fluid flow is solved first by a dedicated CDF solver on a fine 3D grid. Subsequently, the acoustic sources and propagation of the sound waves are calculated by Lighthill's analogy or acoustic perturbation equations on a coarse 3D grid covering the whole vocal tract and a radiation region adjacent to the lips. The spectra of the radiated sound for two vowels, evaluated from the aeroacoustic simulations, are compared with the formant frequencies known from human subjects. Further, the influence of the false vocal folds on the flow and acoustic field is analyzed.
