Kapitola v rámci souborné monografie poprvé komplexně zpracovává dějiny města Tišnov na Brněnsku ve středověku a na počátku novověku (7. – polovina 16. století). Opírá se jak o výsledky archeologických výzkumů v období posledních třiceti let, tak o novou zevrubnou analýzu dochovaných písemných pramenů. Zabývá se starším sídelním vývojem na území pozdějšího města v období 7. – počátku 13. století, dále pak počátky a prvotním rozvojem samotné městské obce, městským urbanismem, vývojem městské samosprávy, sociální a profesní stratifikací, sociotopografií i pozicí Tišnova v systémové struktuře městských sídel regionu širšího Brněnska. Vedle zasazení dějin městské obce do dobového politického a společensko-ekonomického kontextu věnuje práce zvláštní pozornost velmi složitým vztahům Tišnova s klášterem cisterciaček Porta coeli, od roku 1232 bezprostřední městskou vrchností, ale i s panovníkem a pány z Pernštejna, kteří v letech 1428–1550 klášterní panství včetně Tišnova opanovali.

The chapter for the first time and in a complex way studies the history of the Tišnov town in the Brno area in the Middle Age and at the beginning of the New Age (the 7th to the half of the 16th century) within the collected monograph. It is supported not only by the results of archeological researches in the period of last thirty years but also by a new detailed analysis of preserved written sources. It deals with the older settlement development in the area of the older town in the period of the 7th until the beginning of the 13th century, later the beginnings and primary development of the municipality itself, town planning, development of town administration, social and occupational stratification, sociotopography and also the position of the Tišnov town in the system structure of town settlements in the region of broader Brno region. Except for setting the history of the municipality into the more general period political and social economical context, the work pays special attention to the very complicated relations of the Tišnov town with the convent of the Cistercian Porta coeli, from 1232 with the direct town authority, as well as with the ruler and the lords of Pernštejn who dominated the convent manor including Tišnov in the period of 1428-1550.
