The freely accessed European Digital Mathematics Library (http://www.eudml.org) has been created by a consortium of 17 partners under the auspices of the european Mathematical Society in frames of the project partly funded by the European Commission in the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme from February 2010 to January 2013. In this paper we survey the project goals and achievements as well as an outlook for sustainable development.
