In recent years, layered hydroxides have been widely studied as inorganic matrices for immobilization of organic functional molecules. The possibility of well-defined arranging of functional molecules in the interlayer space of positively charged hydroxide layers represents an attractive alternative to covalent anchoring on the surface of inorganic supports.
