We prepared a new metal organic framework compound with a formula [Li6(HTFTA)2(H2O)3]•3H2O, where HTFTA is a trianion of tetrahydrofuran-2,3,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid (C8H5O93-). A rich system of hydrogen bonds formed by coordinated and crystalline water predetermines this compound to be a protonic conductor. This assumption was confirmed by impedance spectra measurements which revealed that [Li6(HTFTA)2(H2O)3]•3H2O behaves as a typical ionic, in this case protonic, conductor. The conductivity of this compound was studied as a function of temperature and relative humidity of the surrounding atmosphere.
