The aim of the workshop was to train participating students in new methods that allow vizualization of specific cell types in central nervous system, such as expression of fluorescent dyes under the promoter for GFAP, CSPG4 and GLAST (typical markers for astrocytes and polydendrocytes), to train them in methods enabling electrophysiological and morphological characterization of cells in nervous tissue (patch clamp and 3D confocal morphometry) and to employ intracellular calcium imaging and confocal microscopy.
