This review paper, based mainly on our own results, describes the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of heavily damaged ocular surface and limbal stem cell deficiency. Nanofiber scaffolds are proposed as optimal carriers of stem cell for ocular surface regeneration. The authors suggest that mesenchymal stem cells growing on nanofiber scaffold can represent a promising tool for ocuůlar surface reparation and regeneration.
