    Structure and stability of arc plasma was examined by several methods in cutting DC plasma torch operating with air. Plasma was produced in commercial air plasma cutting system with shieldinggas and experimental nozzle in non-cutting setup with rotating anode. Arc radiation was recorded by high-speed CCD camera and analyzed by calculating standard deviations, Fourier transform and generalized correlation dimensions. These methods yielded various views of arc inner structure andits short-time development. Besides compression and expansion zones caused by gas supersonicflow, two distinctive layers in the arc structure created by hydrodynamics effects and helical structure at the arc axis suggesting rotational movements were detected.
