Combination of capillary isoelectric focusing in a tapered fused silica capillary with matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry has been shown to provide for a rapid and reliable identification of bacteria (Dickeya spp.) taken from plant-tissue-containing samples.
