Non-linear systems with several degrees of freedom are characterized by a number of response types including Limit Cycles (LC). A new analytical/iterative method of LC identifica-tion and portrait investigation has been developed together with a technique of their stability as-sessment. The strategy used enables to distinguish the stable and unstable LC and consequently to define the attractive and repulsive response fields. A narrow toroidal domain around the LC is constructed. It is arithmetized by orthogonal system positioned by tangential and normal vectors to the LC. Stability of the LC is investigated within the toroidal domain using the transformed differ-ential system for the normal components of the response being functions of the coordinate along the LC trajectory. Exponential criteria of LC stability are developed using first degree of perturba-tion procedure.
