Das Werk von Karel Čapek (1890-1938), des berühmten tschechischen Journalist, Schriftsteller und Dramatiker, beinhaltet wichtige Aspekte, die gerade heutzutage aktuell und bahnbrechend sind. In unserem Beitrag versuchen wir auf dem Hintergrund des gegenwärtigen Kontextes des K. Čapek´s Werk einige spezifische Wesenszüge der Technikbewertung im tschechischen Milieu zu erklären.

The work of Karel Čapek (1890-1938), the famous Czech journalist, writer and dramatist,contains significant aspects which are topical and revealing even today. In this paper we try to explain on the background of the contemporary context of Čapek's work some specific features of viewing technology in the Czech milieu and their conditioning by the traditions of thought on the one hand and by the historical changes of technology and society on the other hand.
