Publikace Výživa a hnojení zahradních rostlin poskytuje ucelený soubor současných poznatků z výživy rostlin. Autoři popisují obecné vztahy a úlohu výživy rostlin v komplexu faktorů ovlivňujících produkci a kvalitu zahradních plodin. Vysvětlují význam živin pro rostliny, princip jejich příjmu a úlohu rhizosféry. Další část publikace je zaměřena na problematiku půd, zemin a substrátů užívaných v zahradnictví, jejich vlastnosti i význam pro výživu rostlin. Zvláštní pozornost je zaměřena na komposty, jejich složení, výrobu i vlastnosti. Autoři dále vysvětlují možnosti pěstování rostlin v hydroponii. Závěrečná část publikace je věnována hnojivům (organickým i minerálním) a jejich použití v zahradnictví, postupu při stanovení dávek hnojení i nároky jednotlivých zahradních plodin na stanoviště, živiny a hnojení.

The book The Nutrition of Horticultural Plants provides set of current knowledge of plant nutrition. The authors describe the general relations and the role of plant nutrition in the complex factors affecting the production and quality of horticultural crops. They explain the importance of plant nutrients, the principle of their uptake and the role of the rhizosphere. Another part of the book is focused on the soils and substrates used in horticulture, their properties and significance for plant nutrition. Particular attention is focused on composts, their composition, production and properties. The authors explain the possibility of plant growing in hydroponics. The final part of the book is focused on fertilizers (organic or mineral) and their use in horticulture, the procedure for determination of fertilizer rates and demands of horticultural plants on nutrients and fertilization.
