This contribution is focused on electrospinning technique which can be used for preparation of the nanofibrous non-woven mats as well as membranes from a variety of parent materials. Especially, biomedical field is one of the important application areas where namely biocompatible electrospun mats and membranes can be utilized. In our work, polymeric membranes composed of chitosan, gelatine and polyurethane were prepared from the solution by electrospinning technique. The morphology of prepared electrospun membranes was studied by scanning electron microscopy technique. The obtained microphotographs indicated that membranes contain nanofibers with diameters ranging from 50 to 500 nm. According to the texture measurements membranes possess high porosity approximately of 80 % with the surface area up to 14 m2/g. Transport properties of prepared membranes were tested in a Graham’s diffusion cell under laboratory conditions. Very low gas transport resistance for all membranes was evaluated.
