Pojednání Kryštofa Boháčka o metodě formální analýzy, které otevírá knihu o Hippiovi Větším, zkoumá formální prvky dialogu – zejména délku, argumentační stavbu, Müllerovu topologickou klasifikaci a celý komplex dramatických struktur typu narativní/mímetický charakter dialogu, rámec, role mluvčích etc. – za účelem chronologického či spíše periodizačního zařazení dialogu v rámci platónského korpusu. Protože Boháček nepochybuje o pravosti dialogu, řadí jej na základě množství charakteristických formálních rysů – zejména na základě figury Sókratova dvojníka – na pomezí malých sókratovských a transitivních dialogů, v každém případě tedy ne později než mezi raná díla. Právě v metafoře dvojníka spatřuje Boháček hlavní filosofické téma dialogu: krása jako dvojník pravdy a dobra, "alter ego" a "povrchní Sókratés" jako dva dvojníci platónského Sókrata – filosofa.

Kryštof Boháček's essay on the method of formal analysis, the opening chapter of the book on Hippias Minor, examines the formal elements of the dialogue – in particular the lenght, arrangement of arguments, Müller´s topological classification, and the dramatic structures like narative/mimetic character of the dialogue, frame, role of speakers etc. – in order to asses its chronological position within the Platonic corpus. Boháček concludes that while there is no doubt that the dialogue was written by Plato, it contains a number of traits – most prominently the figure of Socrates´double – which make it possible to place it any later than in between the short Socratic dialogues and the transitional ones. And the metaphor of the double seems to be also the main philosophical topic of the dialogue: the Beauty as the double of the Truth a nd the Good, the "Alter ego" and the "superficial Socrates" as the double of the Socrates of Plato – of the philosopher.
