The longitudial ecologic study started in 1994 in the frame of Teplice Program aimed at comparing morbidity of children born and living in the districts of Teplice and Prachatice, that differed by levels of air pollution. The list of all illnesses of 960 children (born 1994-1998) in the period since birth to 10 years of age were obtained from pediatric medical records. The spectra of morbidity (% particular diagnoses) were compared in the ages 0-2, 2-6 and 6-10 years. The comparisons showed that the children living in the Teplice city had higher incidence of more serious upper respiratory infections than the children from the relatively clean rural district of Prachatice.
