The conference addresses issues of both substance and method in ethics, more particularly in ethics of modern Platonic tradition. While the tradition has certain substantive commitments, e.g. the non-reducibility of the good and of a few other values, emphasis on the role of perception and emotions in moral understanding, the importance of the inner, etc, yet it is characteristically as interested in questions as it in final answers. It is for this reason that we call this a colloquium – an open-ended conversation – rather than a conference.
