Soil macrofauna was sampled in fragments of peat wet Molinia dominated meadow and the same meadow in close vicinity drained ten years ago. At the same time, soil moisture, pH, carbon content and water level depth were measured. Drained meadows showed lower moisture and content of carbon. Drained meadow was repeatedly tilled several years after drainage and turned to cultural meadow. Total macrofauna density varied from 1,271 to 4,506 individuals per m2 with no significant differences between drained and undrained plots. CCA method indicates significant difference between drained and undrained meadows, the most important factors significanty affecting soil fauna community are soil moisture and organic matter content, water level depth and soil pH show no significant effect on macrofauna community.
