Air quality was measured for a year using active detectors or passive diffusion samplers in two buildings of the National Library of the Czech Republic: the Baroque Library Hall and the new Central repository. VOCs levels in the Baroque library were compared with a condition survey of manuscripts or prints (incunabula) within the repositories (SurveNIR). At present, four libraries and archival depositories in Czech Republic with different quality of outdoor air are being monitored for air pollutions. The outcomes of this research will be used to inform interventions with the aimto improve air quality within libraries and archives.
