Způsob přípravy substituovaných nitrofenylsulfurpentafluoridů obecného vzorce 2 zástupnou nukleofilní aromatickou substitucí za vodík, při němž se nitrofenylsulfurpentafluorid, mající nitro skupinu navázanou v poloze meta nebo para, ponechá reagovat v prostředí organického rozpouštědla se sloučeninou obecného vzorce 3 za přítomnosti přebytku báze a následně s přebytkem sloučeniny obecného vzorce R3X2, kde R3 je zvolen ze skupiny, zahrnující vodík, C1–10 alkyl, allyl, nebo benzyl a X2 je halogen. Vynález zahrnuje i následné chemické modifikace primárních produktů. Tento způsob dále zahrnující redukci produktu na aminofenylsulfurpentafluoridy obecného vzorce 4 a dále jejich přeměnu dusitanem sodným v přítomnosti minerální kyseliny na substituované fenylsulfurpentafluoridy obecného vzorce 5.
