Silicate glasses containing silver have promising optical properties for photonic applications, such as planar optical waveguides or all-optical switches[1]. Ion implantation allows synthesizing high-density metal nano-clusters with well-defined depth profile[2]. By post implantation thermal annealing size of nanoclusters can be controlled [3,4]. The main aim of this study was to compare the properties of glasses implanted by Ag+ ions under identical conditions and find relationships between chemical composition of glass substrate and formation Ag nano-particles.
