Disertační práce přináší paralelní latinsko-českou edici I. dílu obsáhlého Itineraria františkánského misionáře Remedia Prutkého (1713–1770), které je podle soudu Zdeňka Kalisty naším nejvýznamnějším cestopisným dílem 18. století. V úvodní studii editor text analyzuje jako důležitý pramen k dějinám Egypta raného novověku, soustřeďuje se na to, co text vypovídá o autorovi, jeho myšlení a mentalitě prostředí, z něhož pochází, a při literární interpretaci se zabývá rovněž estetickými kvalitami díla v kontextu doby.

The dissertation work presents primarily the text itself of part of Itinerarium in the form of a critical edition. The edition and translation are preceded by an introductory study within the scope of three chapters. The first chapter is a review and provides a brief outline of the origin and development of the mission activity of the Franciscan order from the foundation of the Congregation for the spread of faith in the countries where missionaries of Czech provenance also operated. Special emphasis is placed on Egypt. The aim of the second chapter is to correct the imprecision which was perpetuated for several years in the biography of the author of the Itinerarium on the basis of study of documents in the Roman archive of the Congregation. In the concluding chapter the structure of this work is presented from literary theory perspectives.
