The Erzgebirge – Krušné Hory Variscan magmatic province, consolidated during Variscan orogeny, is located in the Saxothiringian zone of the Bohemian Massif. This area differs from other parts of the Variscan belt in Europe in the coexistence of two contrasting types of granite plutons: (1) strongly peraluminous P-rich granites (S-type) and (2) mildly peraluminous P-poor granites (A-type) (Breiter et al. 1999). Both types of granites are similar in age about 325-310 Ma (with scarce exceptions down to 298 Ma), shallow intrusions levels with breccia-filled vents, and greisen-style Sn-W mineralization. The granites differs in the relative abundance of trace elements, chemical composition of rock-forming and accessory minerals, related volcanic activity, and structural style of the Sn-W mineralization.
