This editorial deals with the utilization of genetically modified cellular vaccines, cytokine-producing tumour vaccines, for adjuvant treatment of residual tumour disease after surgery or chemotherapy. The efficacy of adjuvant immunomodulatory gene therapy for improvement of the conventional cancer treatment is discussed.
