A sharp collimation of high density plasma flow from massive planar targets driven by a single laser beam is investigated. Two-dimensional Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian code PALE is applied to numerical simulations of dense laser-produced plasma with a specially profiled beam. An interaction beam profile with an intensity minimum in the beam centre is found to be responsible for the plasma flow collimation during plasma expansion. A smooth concave beam profile is superior to an annular shape and it produces narrower plasma streams. The plasma flow collimation improves significantly for heavier elements, even when radiative cooling is omitted. Sharply collimated plasma jet with the length exceeding the laser beam diameter several times is produced for an optimal interaction beam profile.
