    The collective edited volume Life full of conflicts represents first attempt to provide a full account of public activity and scholarly work of an important Czech historian Jan Slavík (1885-1978) in all the principal areas: Russian revolution and Soviet studies in general, the dispute over the "meaning of Czech history", conflict with Josef Pekař, methodology influenced by Max Weber, discussion about the Czech early Middle ages. In addition to that, the book contains an extensive bibliography of Slavík´s works as well as publications about Slavík, which substantially extends and revises existing bibliography, including 2500 entries.
