The presentation focuses on national stereotypes of five Central European countries’ representatives. In our research, the five-factor model of personality was used as a framework for describing the national auto- and hetereostereotypes of Czechs, Austrians, Germans, Slovaks, and Poles. Over 4,136 Czech university students and 100 adults in eight subsamples from different parts of the Czech Republic rated “a typical country representative” on National Character Survey (NCS, Terraccino et al., 2005). The first aim of the study was to examine whether the profiles of national stereotypes rated by different groups of respondents coming from different parts of the Czech Republic converge. The profiles of personality traits converge more in case of Germanic neighbors and less in case of Slavonic neighbors. The other aim of the study was to compare the stereotypical profiles of the five countries’ representatives based on ratings from the whole Czech sample. We found that the profile of a typical German corresponds with the profile of a typical Austrian, while the profile of a typical Slovak corresponds with the profile of a typical Pole.

Prezentace byla věnována výzkumu národních stereotypů v pěti středoevropských zemích. Jako vztahový rámec pro zkoumání národních auto- a heteresterotypů Čechů, Rakušanů, Němců, Slováků a Poláků byl uplatněn pětifaktorový model osobnosti. 4136 českých vysokoškoláků a vysokoškolaček a 100 dospělých respondentů v osmi dílčích souborech respondentů pocházejících z různých částí České republiky posuzovalo (typického představitele každé země na základě National Character Survey (NCS, Terraccino et al., 2005). Prvním cílem studie bylo zjistit, zda profily národních stereotypů odvozených z posouzení různých skupin respondentů pocházejících z různých částí ČR spolu korespondují. Stereotypní profily osobnostních rysů typického Rakušana a Němce spolu korespondují více než stereotypní profily tří typických představitelů slovanských zemí. Dalším cílem studie bylo srovnat stereotypní profily typických představitelů pěti zemí na základě odpovědí všech českých respondentů. Zjistily jsme, že profil typického Němce koresponduje s profilem typického Rakušana, zatímco profil typického Slováka koresponduje s profilem typického Poláka.
