Series of banana-shaped liquid crystalline compounds having five aromatic rings was studied. We have compared the influence of a substitution on central resorcinol ring on mesomorphic behaviour of these materials.The material with non-substituted central ring showed B2 phase. Some of these materials were also prepared with unsaturated tails which enables to use them as a precursors of the polymeric liquid crystals.

Byla studována řada kapalně krystalických látek s molekulami lomeného tvaru obsahujících pět aromatických kruhů. Porovnali jsme vliv substituce centrálního resorcinového kruhu na mesomorfní vlastnosti těchto materiálů. Látka s nesubstituovaným centrálním kruhem vykazovala B2 fázi. Některé z materiálů byly připraveny rovněž v polymerizovatelné formě s dvojnými vazbami na koncích ramen.
